Historical Significance
Lovis Corinth is considered one of Germany's most important artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work bridges the gap between Impressionism and Expressionism, and his writings provide valuable insight into his artistic philosophy and techniques. This volume was published during his lifetime, making it an authentic representation of how he wished his work to be presented.Â
This is an exceptional opportunity for collectors of German Expressionism, art historians, or institutions seeking materials with direct provenance to one of Germany's most significant modern artists. The family connection makes this a truly museum-quality artifact.
📝 Authentification/provenance
This particular copy holds extraordinary significance as it comes directly from Corinth family descendants - the grandson of Lovis Corinth himself. This direct family lineage adds immense historical value and authenticity to this rare publication. A personalized letter of authenticity to provenance will be included.
📝 Notes
The first lithograph has a tissue paper page which is unusual and the other lithograph pages have a greenish tint and are also unusual in that the paper weight is very different from other publications of similar name and age. We are not sure but this RARE publication may actually be the only copy and perhaps is a proof of the limited publication. It is similar in content to other publications but the size and paper weight/quality and cover image is different. We are unable to find an exact match online to this publication.
